Welcome to Globe Hotel San Francisco SoMa

The Globe Hotel San Francisco SoMa presents itself as a budget-friendly option nestled in the vibrant SoMa district at 10 Hallam St, San Francisco. With a modest rating of 3.1, it caters to travelers seeking straightforward accommodations without the frills of luxury. The hotel’s location offers easy access to cultural landmarks like SFMOMA, AT&T Park, and the area's diverse culinary scene, making it a practical choice for visitors eager to explore the city’s rich urban tapestry.

Guests appreciate the value the Globe Hotel delivers, especially considering the price point in a notoriously expensive city. Rooms show signs of age, with furniture and decor reflecting years of use, suggesting a need for refurbishment to revitalize the space. Yet, the essentials remain intact: clean rooms, a private bathroom, and functional amenities like free Wi-Fi and breakfast—a simple but welcome offering of pastries, coffee, and juice that adds a small touch of comfort to the stay.

The atmosphere is unpretentious and honest. It doesn’t promise a polished boutique experience but guarantees rest and basic convenience. The absence of air conditioning means guests often keep windows open, inviting ambient street sounds without significant disturbance. The hotel’s position above a bar does not seem to detract from a decent night's sleep, highlighting a balance between urban energy and quiet reprieve.

Staff friendliness and accommodating service consistently surface in guest feedback, suggesting a welcoming environment that compensates for the hotel’s aging physical plant. Accessibility is noted, and while some travelers might miss amenities like a fitness center or pet accommodations, the Globe focuses on core offerings that meet fundamental needs.

In reflection, the Globe Hotel San Francisco SoMa stands as a pragmatic choice for budget-conscious visitors who prioritize location and basic comfort over luxury. It embraces its role as a straightforward, no-nonsense lodging option amid San Francisco’s bustling SoMa neighborhood, where the city’s art, sports, and culinary scenes converge. For those willing to temper expectations and appreciate honest value, the Globe delivers a grounded, functional stay.

A perfectly fine budget hotel. I think some of the lower scored reviews are comparing the cost of this hotel to the value they would get for that money in other cities. It's older and could use a refurbishment for some items like the furniture in the rooms, as well as a new coat of paint. It was exactly what I was expecting in a value hotel and even included a pastry, coffee and juice breakfast. The staff I interacted with were all friendly and helpful, and the location was good for what I wanted to do in town.

I stayed here in October 2019 for two weeknights. Overall it's a great value. It's a little worn but if you are looking for a bed, a bathroom, and a decent nights sleep it's not bad. The neighborhood is no worse than anything else in the price range. There is no air conditioning so the windows stay open but it wasn't that noisy outside. It sits on top of a bar which wasn't an issue at all. Overall I'd stay here again. The cost to me was a bit over $200 after all the taxes and fees, and more fees, and more California fees. That compares to over $600 in many other hotels that were nearby.

The hotel is not perfect, but for the price I have been really happy. The staff is friendly, the breakfast is simple (sweet pastries and coffee/Juice) but always surprisingly good, it is clean, and they have been more than accommodating. I believe most of the poor reviews on here are unfair, because we should acknowledge that by paying less, we are getting less man-hours for cleaning, desk service, etc. I have been more than impressed by everything considering how few staff I see- I have been here 5 days and have only seen about 5 different people total(two cleaning staff and three people at the desk). I would definitely recommend it for the price, the proximity to everything else, and how quiet it is because it is off the main street a bit.
